25th Annual Exercise Wallaby draws to a close

Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) personnel will depart Rockhampton this week marking the successful completion of the 25th Annual Exercise Wallaby, which officially ends on Saturday 28 November.
Throughout the duration of the exercise a number of Singaporean delegates met with Rockhampton Region Councillors to commemorate the 25 year milestone and to discuss opportunities that will potentially enhance their relationship in the future.
Rockhampton Regional Councillors Cherie Rutherford, Greg Belz and Neil Fisher recently met with Singapore Minister for Defence and head of the Ministry of Defence, Ng Eng Hen to mark the conclusion of the exercise.
“The Minister and I discussed how the bond between our two communities has grown so much over the past 25 years to the point where people within our community look forward to these exercises each year,” Cr Fisher said.
The Singapore Armed Forces made extensive use of the Rockhampton Airport housing fighter aircraft during the unilateral military exercise, which came just months after the biennial Talisman Sabre Exercise.
"Yet again I thank our Airport staff for conducting a seamless operation while our Airport continued to conduct daily domestic flights, house military equipment and operate as an international Airport all at once," Cr Fisher said.
Plane enthusiasts will have two more opportunities to witness the Antonov this week as it makes two final stops at the Rockhampton Airport, arriving on Thursday and again on Saturday at 5am and departing at 9.30am both days.
