The Adventure Playground at Kershaw Gardens has had a new shade sail installed in time for the school holidays.
Parks Sport and Public Spaces Councillor Cherie Rutherford said the new shade sail will provide some welcome relief from the sun for our little adventure seekers.
“Council began installing the shade in August and the timing of completion couldn’t be better,” Cr Rutherford said.
“The playground area reopened to the public at the end of last week.
“This is a wonderful component to our Kershaw Gardens parklands, which is a family favourite and now it’s even better!
“The additional shade will also keep the equipment cooler during our long hot summer months, and it’s great to know our children will have that extra sun protection.
“Kershaw Gardens has seen some great enhances over the past few years and it’s always exciting to see additions like this shade being installed in the area.
“I encourage the community to get out and about these school holidays and utilise the wonderful parks our region has to offer.”
Divisional Councillor Donna Kirkland said the playground is sure to be a hit with families who can now enjoy the extra shade.
“Kershaw Gardens is a wonderful park, but this shade makes it even better, with children able to stay sun safe while playing, exploring, and imagining their way around the equipment,” Cr Kirkland said.
