Applications are now open for the Brisbane Art Industry Immersion Program, an opportunity to spend three days immersed in Brisbane’s art scene in January 2020.
The Brisbane Art Industry Immersion program has been established by the Rockhampton Art Gallery in conjunction with the Regional Arts Development Fund.
The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Rockhampton Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
Acting Mayor Cherie Rutherford said there are six places available for artists and art workers living in the Rockhampton Region.
“This three day immersion program would be a fantastic way to begin the year,” Cr Rutherford said.
“The six participants will travel to Brisbane to visit cultural institutions; engage with Brisbane based art workers, institutions, galleries, and visual art spaces; and gain valuable insights into the establishment of artist run spaces as well as advice on practical business models and administrative skills.
“It will be a great opportunity to experience firsthand the unique emerging spaces that are being driven by the art community, as well as gain an understanding of the beneficial services available to them through different arts institutions.
“This opportunity builds on smaller-scale artist and arts worker professional development opportunities hosted by the Rockhampton Art Gallery over the past 18 months.
“Rockhampton Art Gallery staff will guide discussions and provide networking opportunities throughout the three day immersive program.
“Following the trip to Brisbane, the participants will be invited to be part of a panel discussion to explore their experiences, findings, and the opportunities they identified for the Rockhampton Region.
“Applications close at 3pm on Thursday 2 January 2020, so don’t miss out on your chance to apply!”
Minister for the Arts Leeanne Enoch said the Palaszczuk Government is proud to continue its RADF partnership with local governments with an investment of $2.08 million, through Arts Queensland, for the 2019-20 fund.
“This investment will support the delivery of hundreds of arts experiences and professional development opportunities across the state,” Ms Enoch said.
“Projects funded through RADF provide pathways for learning, contribute to the creation of jobs, foster creativity and boost cultural tourism.”
