Appreciative of support from neighbouring Councils

Four neighbouring Central Queensland Councils are providing much needed clean-up assistance to Rockhampton Regional Council post TC Marcia.
Rockhampton Region Mayor Margaret Strelow said she cannot thank them enough for their support.
“The last 12 days have been tough and the support we’ve been given from neighbouring Local Governments is appreciated more than words,” Mayor Strelow said.
“We’ve had staff from Central Highlands, Isaac, Bundaberg and Mackay Regional Councils drop everything in their own shires to be here with us as we recover from the devastation caused by TC Marcia.
“It is great to see Local Governments working together. It’s what we’re about; helping each other and providing assistance with the common goal of making our communities better.”
Central Highlands Regional Council – 23 staff and seven contractors assisting Civil Operations and Parks and Gardens crews
Isaac Regional Council – 14 staff assisting Civil Operations and Parks and Gardens crews
Bundaberg Regional Council – Four staff and three contractors (chipper team) assisting Parks and Gardens crews
Mackay Regional Council – 17 staff (predominantly a specialised Arborist team) assisting Parks and Gardens crews
“The additional support of these 68 workers has been such a complement to our own Council teams and the relationships we have with our neighbouring Councils has only strengthened as a result of this.
“We will be sad to have them depart our Region between 6 – 20 March however their efforts and assistance will not be forgotten,” she said.
