There’s no doubt the presence of Beef Australia 2015 in Rockhampton has energised the Region and its timeliness has been necessary for the revival of the local economy.
With the event drawing upwards of 85,000 visitors nation-wide and almost 1000 from overseas, it’s evident that no other activity shines the spotlight so strongly on the Rockhampton Region.
Mayor Margaret Strelow addressed key delegates at last night’s welcome function, representing Council as a principal partner of the event.
“The holding of Beef Australia 2015 in Rockhampton is the brightest reflection of the Region’s nationwide role as Australia’s Beef Capital,” Mayor Strelow said.
“We are honoured to stage this triennial exhibition which signals a week of opportunities for our agricultural industry and growth for our local economy.”
Rockhampton Region Councillors have also been busy utilising the exhibition as a major networking opportunity for investors.
Deputy Mayor Cr Tony Williams said Councillors have been closely engaging with Chinese delegates who are key stakeholders in the future of agricultural investment.
“Rocky shines during Beef Week, what a perfect way to showcase our Region to not only the nation, but the rest of the world,” Cr Williams said.
“This is our moment to provide insight to international visitors and showcase our areas of excellence.”
Beef 2015 is the tenth series of expositions held in Rockhampton, and it’s clear that this years’ exhibition is the largest and most sophisticated yet.
Councillor Cherie Rutherford said, “The whole place is buzzing and is filled with an exciting friendly vibe. The entertainment has been wonderful and it is worth a visit just for that alone. We really do have some amazing talent in our Region.”
