Bell of Peace rings in memory of Paris victims

Today Rockhampton’s Bell of Peace, “The Bell of Saint Paul’s”, rang from Saint Paul's Cathedral at 1pm for one hour,  in memory of lives senselessly lost in Paris.

The bell cast in 1947 bears the inscription “When I Paul ring, peace to the world I bring”.

Rockhampton Region Mayor Margaret Strelow said the gesture commemorated the victims of the Paris attacks on Friday.

“We didn’t have coloured lights to flood wash City Hall so this gesture from Saint Paul’s Cathedral Father Lindsay to use our historic Bell speaks for all of us,” Mayor Strelow said.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.”
