Bin days set to change on Monday
Published on 08 April 2022
Don’t forget that new bin collection routes will kick in from Monday 11 April!
Waste and Recycling Councillor Shane Latcham said the improved routes will mean a change in bin day or recycling week for about 70% of our community.
“We’ve sent letters out to all households saying what your bin day and recycling week is from Monday, so hopefully everyone has a full understanding of how this change will affect them,” Cr Latcham said.
“If you’re still not sure, just head over to www.rrc.qld.gov.au/binday and click on the bin search app to search for your address.
“You’ll also find a link to where you can report a missed collection and more information on why the changes are taking place.
“Even if your bin day or recycling week hasn’t changed, keep in mind that this could impact the time of day your bin is collected, so please make sure your bins are out before 6am.
“We know the best reminder for a lot of people is seeing your neighbour’s bin on the kerb, so if you know your area is changing why not be your street’s ‘roll’ model and wheel your bins out a bit earlier the night before.
“And just a note for residents in some areas of Lakes Creek, Kawana and Berserker – if your recycling week is changing from Week 2 to Week 1 there will be an extra recycling service for you this week so you’re not waiting three weeks between collections.
“I really want to thank everyone in advance for working with us through this transition.
“Over the years as our region has grown and changed our kerbside collection routes have done the same. As new collections have been added to existing routes, some days and routes have become more complicated than others.
“This review has given us an opportunity to map out routes that make the most sense for our community today, and mean that we are ready to service more people as our region continues to grow.”
To check your bin day now head over to www.rrc.qld.gov.au/binday and use our bin search tool.
Collections may take place at any time between 6am and 6pm on your bin day.
