Bolton Park Multi-Purpose Courts a Win-Win Result
Published on 09 November 2016
A joint venture between Rockhampton Regional Council and The Cathedral College has led to the construction of four multi-purpose courts at Bolton Park (corner of Talford and Derby Streets).
The Cathedral College (TCC) funded the $800,000 construction project consisting of four courts marked for basketball, netball and tennis and including a covered grandstand and Rockhampton Regional Council, as Trustees of Bolton Park has provided the conditional use of the land.
Rockhampton Regional Council Deputy Mayor, Councillor Cherie Rutherford said while direct responsibility for the complex lies with The Cathedral College, community access has been secured as part of the College’s agreement with Council.
“We are happy to have been able to work with The Cathedral College to achieve this fantastic result for both the school and the community,” Councillor Rutherford said.
The courts are available to the general public and community groups including sporting clubs on weekends, public holidays and school holidays from 8am to sundown and on week days 4.30pm to sundown.
The opening of the new Bolton Park Multi-Purpose Courts is scheduled for this Thursday 10th November at 9.30am.
Deputy Mayor, Cr Rutherford and Director of Catholic Education, Leesa Jeffcoat will perform the official opening and TCC students will be utilising the many features of the courts.
