Rockhampton Regional Council’s popular Community Assistance Program (CAP) is now accepting applications for its second round of funding!

Local non-profit organisations can bring their events and projects to life with financial support from the program, which has enriched our Region with spectacular events and initiatives over the last 20 years.

Deputy Mayor and Communities, Culture and Heritage Councillor Drew Wickerson said CAP had played a vital role in the growth and success of numerous local events.

“Our latest round comes on the back of a successful six months with eight events and three projects sharing almost $45,000 of funding,” Cr Wickerson said.

“In the past few months, our community has been treated to a host of wonderful events.

“From a masquerade ball hosted by Capricorn Animal Aid to a Battle of the Bands competition for schools in the Central Queensland.

“These were great events that catered to a range of ages, attracting large numbers of attendees.

“More recently, Council also supported Rocky City Amateur Swimming Club which attracted competitors from all over the state and highlighted our fantastic aquatic facilities.

“The events are widespread too, with Council providing CAP funding to the Mount Morgan Wattle Day Festival and the 2024 APRA National Finals Rodeo in Gracemere.”

Councillor Wickerson is encouraging eligible community groups to apply for Round 2 of the 2024/2025 CAP funding, before it closes on 3 February 2025.

“We invite the community, from local groups, organisations and sporting clubs, to submit an application for events commencing from February 2025 onwards,” Cr Wickerson said.

“The positive feedback we have received from past recipients is a testament to the impact of this program, and we are incredibly proud to continue our support for local groups who contribute to making our community more exciting.”
