CQ Health leading the way to healthy lifestyles

Rockhampton Region’s premier sports and health expo is bound to be bigger, better and healthier next February with naming rights sponsor Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service (CQ Health) again leading the way.
The CQ Health 2016 Sports and Health Expo, hosted by Rockhampton Regional Council, showcases local health and wellbeing organisations and encourages community members to live healthy lifestyles.
Council’s Parks and Recreation Committee Chair Councillor Cherie Rutherford said she welcomed the support of sponsors, which was vital in helping the expo feature a wide variety of health services, activities and programs for our community.
“We’re really pleased to be working closely with CQ Health, our Region’s leading health organisation, who have for the 2nd year taken a major role and generously supported the Sport and Health Expo,” Cr Rutherford said.
"The expo in July was very successful with 2,500 people attending and more than 83 stall holders exhibiting their sport or healthy lifestyle activity, and we’re encouraging a variety of health service providers to be involved again.”
CQ Health Chief Executive Len Richards said the ongoing partnership with Council and the expo was helping get the important health messages to residents.
“Lifestyle-related chronic diseases are having an increasing impact on the health of our community,” Mr Richards said.
“Our strong partnership with Council and the Sports and Health Expo has benefits for the community as a whole by raising awareness of living a healthy lifestyle and helping people increase their participation in sport and physical activity.”
The CQ Health 2016 Sports and Health Expo is a great opportunity for local sporting clubs, health service providers, sport retailers and organisations to showcase the wide range of activities, services and programs that are on offer throughout our Region.
