Cash flow, profitability, marketing – Free Small Business Week Forum
Published on 10 May 2017
Does your business need a hand understanding cash flow, profitability or marketing?
If you’re a small business owner, local supplier or budding entrepreneur then head to the free Small Business Week Forum on Thursday 18 May.
Rockhampton Regional Council’s Regional Development and Promotions Manager Chris Ireland said the Small Business Week Forum was an opportunity to gain a better understanding of elements for a successful business.
“Council will be hosting three local business operators with a wealth of experience in managing small business from financial advising to marketing so it’s an excellent opportunity for participants to hear from the experts about the fundamental elements for success,” Mr Ireland said.
“We’ll also have Council Officers discussing how to work with Council from a tenders and supplier perspective, and we’ll be giving an update on the CDD Redevelopment Framework.
“While the morning session will focus on tips and hints for business improvement strategies, our afternoon session will focus on Rockhampton’s Smart Hub.”
Smart Hub Business Manager Elize Hattin said she would be on-hand to introduce visitors to the Hub as well as explain what kind of support was available.
“Essentially, the Smart Hub offers startups and entrepreneurs the skills to grow their business so we’re encouraging people to visit the Hub to hear what we can offer in terms of advice, as well hear about our upcoming programs,” Ms Hattin said.
“We’ll have a session on business improvement, business data management and business intelligence from a local IT consultant, and visitors will have the chance to network and chat with our current Smart Hub tenants to gain further insight into the experiences, benefits and challenges in managing businesses.”
Rockhampton Region Mayor Margaret Strelow said supporting local business was paramount to grow our Region economically and ensure future prosperity.
“We are committed to nurturing our Region’s businesses, whether they are startups, small business already in operation or budding entrepreneurs - our community is reliant on them and they are essential in terms of jobs’ growth,” Mayor Strelow said.
“The Small Business Week Forum and the Smart Hub are two brilliant initiatives that can help our business sector tap into things vital for their ongoing commercial success including new marketing techniques and technologies, particularly as we move further into the digital world.”
