Celebrate International Youth Day this Saturday
Published on 11 August 2017
Rockhampton Regional Council is proud to partner with Impact Community Services to celebrate International Youth Day this Saturday, 12 August 2017.
Chair of the Community Services Committee Councillor Rose Swadling says the day is about more than celebrating the contribution young people make to our community.
“Our Region is incredibly lucky to have so many talented and inspiring young community members and tomorrow really is a chance to say thank you and celebrate their contribution to our community,” Cr Swadling.
“International Youth Day though is about more than that though. It’s about recognising that all levels of Government have a role to play in working together to deliver the services, infrastructure and social needs our young people deserve.
“Council actively works with groups throughout the community to ensure we are delivering for our young people, whether it’s helping with education programs or delivering playing spaces across our parks and playgrounds, Council takes its commitment very seriously.
“That’s why we’ll be out celebrating tomorrow and I hope residents can join us for the presentations, performances and prize draws,” Cr Swadling said.
