Celebrate our Magnificent Mount Archer - Saturday 18 March
Published on 02 March 2017
Sit back, relax and take in the Magnificent Mount Archer views on Saturday 18 March when it comes alive with music and dancing, bush survival skills, guided nature walks and fun activities.
Deputy Mayor Councillor Cherie Rutherford said it was perfect timing to take in Mount Archer’s beauty as we head out of summer and into autumn.
“To celebrate work on the First Turkey Mountain Bike Reserve, Pilbeam Drive and Fraser Park we’ll be hosting an afternoon of nature walks, music, dancing and entertainment and we’d love the community to come along to Fraser Park and take in our magnificent Mount Archer,” Cr Rutherford said.
“We had to cancel the event in January due to the heatwave conditions, but mid-March will be perfect.”
Cr Rutherford said the celebrations also coincided with rolling out the Mount Archer Activation Plan.
“Thanks to support from State and Federal governments, Federal Member Michelle Landry and Member for Keppel Brittany Lauga, along with input from community, environment and Indigenous groups, we’ve started the exciting journey for Mount Archer to reach its full potential,” she said.
Division 2 Councillor Neil Fisher said it was a great chance for the community to come along and find out for themselves how wonderful Mount Archer is.
“Our vision for Mount Archer is to produce an energised recreation area with accompanying infrastructure so that residents and visitors can enjoy one of our most treasured outdoor spaces!” Cr Fisher said.
“So, come along for the afternoon, particularly if you haven’t been to the top before, and really get a feel for our great Mount Archer.”
Join the fun at Fraser Park from 3pm to 7pm with guided bush walks, survival skills demonstrations with Rocky Instincts, Australian wildlife interactions with Little Aussie Encounters and live music by Ben Beasley.
There’ll be community stalls, a treasure hunt and a free sausage sizzle too.
You can catch the free shuttle bus from Frenchville State School at regular intervals from 2.30pm onwards. There will be no parking at Fraser Park after 12pm and traffic management will be in place.
