Rocky ready to light up for Christmas
Published on 29 November 2017
This weekend will see the annual CBD Christmas Fair take over East Street as Rocky gets into the Christmas spirit. The event, supported by Rockhampton Regional Council, will also see the lighting of the Region’s largest Christmas tree.
From 5pm on Saturday, East Street will bustle with Christmas stalls, free entertainment, face painting and rides, with plenty of food and drink on offer too. At 7.30pm the lights on the Christmas tree, located on the corner of East Street and Denham Street, will be turned on.
Acting Mayor Councillor Tony Williams said the event promised to be a special one.
“Christmas is all about coming together to spend quality time with your loved ones.
“What better way to start off the festive season than to head down to the Christmas Fair with your friends and family to enjoy the atmosphere, pick up a special gift or two, and then watch the tree light up the night sky.
“It’s also a great opportunity to support local businesses, many of whom rely on the Christmas trade to keep them going throughout the year.”
The CBD Christmas Fair will take place this Saturday on East Street between Fitzroy Street to William Street, starting at 5pm. The Christmas tree lighting takes place at 7.30pm. For more information, see the event on Facebook.
