Come and play at Rockhampton Botanic Gardens playground!

The redeveloped playground at Rockhampton Botanic Gardens is set to officially open at 9am on Saturday, 11 March 2023 during World Parks Week.
The new playground is thanks to $1.6 million in funding from the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland program.
Rockhampton Region Mayor Tony Williams said the community were invited to celebrate the official opening at a free family event from 9-11am on Saturday, 11 March 2023.
“We’re so excited to officially open the new playground during World Parks Week and can’t wait for the community to enjoy this exciting new space,” Mayor Williams said.
“This project would not have been possible without funding from the Palaszczuk Government’s Works for Queensland program, and we’ll be joined on the day by our member for Rockhampton Barry O’Rourke as well as our project partners at Urban Play to open the new space.
“This playground truly is something special and I know it will become a much-loved destination for both local families and visitors alike.
Parks, Sport and Public Spaces Councillor Cherie Rutherford encouraged the community to join in on the celebrations.
“Not only will there be a brand new playground to keep the kids entertained, but also free celebratory cake, a sausage sizzle, icy poles, and educational displays for the whole family to enjoy!
“We’re truly excited for the opening of the playground and know it will be enjoyed by many generations to come.
“Bring your picnic rugs and get outdoors for World Parks Week as we celebrate the official opening of the redeveloped Botanic Gardens Playground.”
