Rockhampton Regional Council has opened round three of its 2015/2016 Community Assistance Program (CAP) to support local not-for-profit organisations with projects and events they are planning within the council area.

Council’s Communities Committee Chair Councillor Rose Swadling said the program had already supported 55 local organisations in the current financial year.

“Since July last year Council has provided funding of over $252,000 to assist local community, cultural, sporting and multicultural groups, as well as sponsorship for eight major events,” Cr Swadling said.

“We want our Region to continue to shine with an exciting range of events and activities on a regular basis; and our local organisations to be able to continue to do what they do best. The funding Council provides can give that vital boost to these groups.

“It’s about helping groups achieve their goals so our entire community can have opportunities to immerse themselves in anything and everything from sport, to arts and crafts, and multicultural activities.”

This round of CAP closes on Wednesday 6 April.

Community groups seeking funding are required to meet specific criteria relating to each grant type and these are outlined in the fact sheets which can be found here.

Application forms and information guides are also available from Council’s Libraries and Customer Service Centres, or by calling 4932 9000.
