Community Conversations 2017

Published on 18 December 2017

Job opportunities, redevelopments, and fishing in the Fitzroy were just some of the topics discussed between the Region’s residents and Council throughout the Community Conversations programme.

The meetings, which ran throughout November, offer community members the chance to speak one on one with Rockhampton Regional Councillors and bring to light a range of ideas or concerns. The Riverbank Redevelopment, and other projects which are now showing results, were popular choices for discussion.

Rockhampton Region Mayor Margaret Strelow said it’s vital to know what improvements residents want to see within their community, and Community Conversation events are Council’s way of hearing it firsthand.

“These events are very much about listening to our community and discussing their ideas and what Council has been working on or could work on better,” Mayor Strelow said.

“We have been really pleased with the attendance numbers at each event, really demonstrating how passionate our residents can be.

“Council will now look closely at all the issues raised, and incorporate all those we can into our forthcoming work.”

The events were held in Alton Downs, Bajool, Bouldercombe, Depot Hill, Gracemere, Koongal, Mount Morgan, Norman Gardens, Wandal, and Wycarbah.
