Community invited to join Sunday’s Clean Up Australia Day events

From the stunning backdrop of Mount Archer to the winding Range in Mount Morgan and everything in between, residents are being called on to help look after our Region as part of the annual Clean Up Australia Day Campaign.
Chair of Council’s Communities Committee Cr Rose Swadling said there are a number of clean up events taking place throughout the Region this Sunday and that everyone was invited to roll up their sleeves and make a difference.
“With community clean up events registered throughout the Region, there is plenty of opportunity for residents to get behind this fantastic initiative again this year,” Cr Swadling said.
“Last year 15 events across our Region took place and saw more than a tonne of waste collected from our local areas. It would be wonderful to see another great turnout this year, and make 2018 our biggest Clean Up Australia Day yet.
“It’s always a great day, especially to see the sense of community spirit for all those who pull on their gloves, boots and hats, and work as a team to assist in beautifying our Region’s parks, roadways and creek areas.”
Cr Swadling added that there is also time to register additional sites for clean up in the Region.
“Anyone can organise a Clean Up Australia Day site – simply find an area that is important to you and register a site online,” Cr Swadling said.
