Council hours over Christmas

From the Mayor, Councillors, staff and volunteers of Rockhampton Regional Council, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Enjoy our Rockhampton Region summer, stay safe and if you are travelling we ask that you take care on the roads to ensure you and your family arrive at your destination safely.

Please note that all Rockhampton Regional Council Customer Service Centres and offices will be closed over the Christmas period from 3pm on Thursday 24 December 2015 and will open again for business in the New Year on Monday 4 January 2016 at 8am.

Council units that will be closed during this period include:

  • Customer service and administration buildings
  • Community Programs
  • Walter Reid Cultural Centre
  • Showgrounds

Some Council venues have different closure times during this Christmas Period. The closure information is listed below:

Rockhampton Art Gallery

  • Closed from 4pm Thursday 24 December
  • Closed public holidays
  • Reopen Tuesday 29 December at 10am.

Pilbeam Theatre

  • The Pilbeam Theatre Box Office and Administration Office (including Rockhampton Showgrounds enquiries) will be closed from 3pm Thursday 24 December 2015, reopening on Monday 4 January 2016.


Rockhampton Heritage Village

  • Closed public holidays  
  • Open all other days 9am - 4pm.

City Child Care Centre

  • Closed from Monday 21 December 2015
  • Reopening Monday 4 January 2016.

Rockhampton Regional Libraries

  • All libraries closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Sunday 27 December & Monday 28 December 2015
  • Rockhampton Regional Library open on Tuesday 29 – Thursday 31 December
  • Mount Morgan Library open on Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 December
  • All libraries closed Friday 1 January
  • Rockhampton Regional Library reopens Saturday 2 January
  • All other libraries reopen on Monday 4 January.

Rockhampton Pound

  • Closed Christmas Day
  • Public holidays and weekends 7-10am
  • Weekdays - 7am - 8.30am and 3pm - 4pm.

Parks and Gardens

  • Public gardens remain open to the public as usual
  • Rockhampton Zoo is closed on Christmas Day.

Pools

Fitzroy River Water

  • The Fitzroy River Water Administration Centre and depots will close at 3pm on Thursday 24 December 2015 and will reopen at 8am on Monday 4 January 2016.
  • FRW Crews will however remain on call and provide 24/7 support throughout the closure period.

Waste Management Facilities

  • All facilities will be closed on Christmas Day.
  • Kerbside collections continue as usual throughout the festive season including Christmas Day.
  • Christmas Day services will start earlier than normal. Please place bins out the night before.

Council will limit its road and other civil works to urgent works only due to increased traffic during this period and to minimise any inconvenience.
