Council looks to community for road name ideas
Published on 26 June 2015
Three roads in the Rockhampton Region are in need of names, and Rockhampton Regional Council is inviting the community to be involved in the naming process.
Council is welcoming the public and community groups to submit name ideas for two unconstructed roads in Oakey Creek and one unconstructed road in Gogango.
Chair of Council’s Infrastructure Committee, Councillor Tony Williams said it’s a great opportunity to recognise local achievers, landmarks and history.
“Naming of infrastructure offers a chance to honour someone, or highlight something that is special to the community,” Cr Williams said.
“The roads in Oakey Creek and Gogango should be no exception, and we warmly welcome the community to be involved in their naming and pass on their ideas.”
Nominations close 11 July, 2015.
Names submitted for consideration are to be in accordance with Council’s “Naming of Infrastructure Assets Policy”. This policy can be found under Roads & Drainage on Council's Policies and Procedures page.
Nominations can be submitted to Rockhampton Regional Council (attention of Nikki Semfel), by emailing enquiries@rrc.qld.gov.au or by mailing to PO Box 1860, Rockhampton, Qld 4703.
