Council mooves on up to Chinese beef partnerships

Rockhampton’s reputation for world-class beef is set to be showcased to even more international markets with Council partnering with Beef Australia to bring a Chinese agricultural investment delegation to the 2018 Beef Week.

Rockhampton Region Mayor Margaret Strelow said while Rockhampton was widely recognised as the Beef Capital of Australia, Council has set its sights on further horizons.

“Council has worked over a number of years to cement relationships with the Asian market through delegations and trade missions to Singapore and China,” Mayor Strelow said.

“It’s been identified there’s more work to do when it comes to targeting the Chinese government sectors and that’s why we’ve partnered with Beef Australia, TIQ and Skilled and Business Migration to bring a delegation here and show them our world-class beef.

“From here, we will then look at developing a more comprehensive visitation program with China to piggyback the Beef Australia event that will allow us to fully showcase our beef and investment opportunities in Rockhampton.

“This is just the first steps towards Rockhampton having a closer relationship with China and they to our premium produce. If we can build on the momentum to further our region’s case for investment attraction, that will be a fantastic outcome.

“We know that the more private sector investment we can attract will in turn create local jobs, drive economic growth and increase tourism numbers to our beautiful region,” Mayor Strelow said.
