Council sets five year direction for Rockhampton Region

Rockhampton Regional Council has today adopted the 2017-22 Corporate Plan which prioritises economic growth and service delivery for the next five years.

Mayor Margaret Strelow said the plan’s five strategic objectives include Community, Economy, Environment, Service Excellence and being a Local Government Leader.

“The Corporate Plan is about setting Council’s high-level priorities for the next five years so that we’re delivering the right services in the right place at the right time,” Mayor Strelow said.

“It prioritises major region building projects including the CBD Redevelopment Framework and Smart Way Forward strategy as well as strategic infrastructure including the South Rockhampton Flood Levee and Kershaw Gardens Redevelopment.

“At the same time, it ensures that Council continues to deliver value for money for our ratepayers while also ensuring we continue to deliver the services our residents need and deserve.

“I’d also like to make a special mention of thanks to Councillors Drew Wickerson and Cherie Rutherford for working with our officers to ensure the Plan was in line with the elected Council’s vision,” Mayor Strelow said.

CEO Evan Pardon said that includes issues ranging from road maintenance to environmental sustainability.

“The Corporate Plan is our Council’s Game Plan for the next 5 years and the various strategies we have in place now along with the upcoming Operational Plan are the plays we’ll use to get there,” Mr Pardon said.

“We’ve identified the community’s expectations of council – this is the blueprint for how we address those expectations.”

Councils in Queensland are required to have a corporate plan under the Local Government Act 2009 and Local Government Regulation 2012.

The plan will be available on council’s website at www.rrc.qld.gov.au.
