Council to cease all funding to Capricorn Enterprise in 2017

Rockhampton Regional Council has today unanimously resolved that as of 31st March 2017 it will cease all funding to Capricorn Enterprise.
Rockhampton Region Mayor Margaret Strelow said Council will assume a greater role in tourism, approving the appointment of a dedicated tourism specialist in the Rockhampton Region.
“There are some issues to be resolved as we tidy up our arrangements with Capricorn Enterprise and I expect Capricorn Enterprise will work with our officers in good faith to ensure a smooth transition,” Margaret Strelow said.
“We respect Capricorn Enterprise’s continuing role as a Regional Tourism Organisation with broader responsibilities promoting the greater region.”
