Nominations close on Sunday, September 25 for this year’s new-look Capricornia Business Awards.

The 2016 event takes on a broader, regional focus with the organising team comprised of representatives from Rockhampton Regional Council, Livingstone Shire Council, The Morning Bulletin, Capricorn Chamber of Commerce and Capricorn Enterprise.

This year’s awards will be held at the Rockhampton Leagues Club on Friday, November 11.

Rockhampton Regional Council Acting Mayor Cherie Rutherford said almost 30 nominations had been received, so far.

Cr Rutherford said the awards showcased those doing great things in the business world.

She said a broad range of categories ensured businesses across all services and industries were catered for.

There are 10 categories as well as a People’s Choice Award, voted on by members of the public, and the Business of the Year.

"We have some amazing businesses in Central Queensland achieving outstanding success in a global market and raising the bar in customer service. This is an opportunity to both recognise and celebrate their achievements," Cr Rutherford said.

Livingstone Shire Council Mayor Bill Ludwig said the awards will also help highlight the sheer diversity of business and industry in our region.

“Small business is the engine room of our economy employing thousands of Central Queenslanders and these awards will shine a spotlight on the fantastic work being done across a range of different sectors by enterprising locals,” Cr Ludwig said.
