Don’t miss the captivating line up of musicians, dancers, food stalls and workshops all inspired by global traditions at the 2017 Rockhampton Cultural Festival this Saturday 26 August.

Rockhampton Regional Council’s Community Services Committee Chair Councillor Rose Swadling said this year’s Festival would bring more cultures from around the world to the Heritage Village for the entire family to experience.

“It truly is a globally-inspired line up of music, food and dance representing cultures from Africa, Asia, Europe, and the America’s, along with Indigenous and home grown entertainment for the entire family to enjoy,” Cr Swadling said.

“We have energetic music acts from Africa, India, Sudan, Nepal and Spain that fuse their own traditional music with more contemporary music, so there’ll be something fascinating to dance to or to sit and relax to.

“There’s more than 30 food stalls so festival goers can pick up a bite to eat all afternoon and into the evening with German, Thai, Filipino, Japanese, Spanish and Dutch inspired food, as well as wood-fired pizza, steak and sausages to name a few.

“Our local cultural groups are also helping out with origami, calligraphy, Indigenous dot painting, and dance and music workshops for all ages. And, as we move into the evening, the Heritage Village will light up with our spectacular Parade of Nations, with participants representing the vast array of nationalities that live in our community today. It will be magnificent!”
