Culture, colour, fun and a cuppa!

Bring the family along and celebrate Council’s next Cultural Teashop on Friday 27 May at the Rockhampton Regional Library.

Rockhampton Regional Council’s Communities Committee Chair Councillor Rose Swadling said the Cultural Teashop was a great opportunity to meet, share, learn and enjoy our community’s different cultures.

“Our Cultural Teashops are always fabulous with activities, music and traditions, but most importantly they’re a wonderful opportunity to meet, share and learn something new and different,” Cr Swadling said.

“We’d love to see new faces and families come along and join in the fun of baby-bouncing rhymes or favourite childhood songs from different countries, as well as learn about customs from other nationalities.”

The CQMA Women’s group will be sharing rhymes from Zambia, Bangladesh and Papua New Guinea, with some Aussie favourites thrown in as well.

This month the Cultural Teashop explores the First Five Forever initiative promoting early family literacies, so bring a friend or neighbour (with a young child or baby!) and join the fun. The session will be intergenerational and finish with a morning cuppa.
