Draft plans ready for feedback – Gracemere Cemetery
Published on 13 August 2015
Gracemere residents are invited to give feedback online, in person or by phone on the expansion plans for Gracemere cemetery when Rockhampton Regional Council opens up the community consultation period from today until Friday 4 September 2015.
Council’s Parks and Recreation Committee Chair Councillor Cherie Rutherford said Council would give residents every opportunity to review the draft plans and provide feedback on the cemetery.
“In June, Council resolved to further develop the Gracemere cemetery by converting a parcel of reserve parkland to cemetery land and we’re now opening up those draft expansion plans to the community,” Cr Rutherford said.
“We’re asking community members to view the plans for a better understanding of the land use, how the reserve would change aesthetically, what to expect over time, and then give us their thoughts.
“The plans are on our website to view but residents can also drop into Gracemere Shopping World on 20 August to discuss the plans in more detail. We’re also happy to arrange one-on-one meetings.
“Gracemere is growing considerably and it’s important that Council understands the community’s views so we can plan and provide future facilities to cater for that growth.”
Council proposes to convert the reserve (SP16321 Lot 2 Bland Street) from a park to a reserve for a cemetery, and to commence improvement and expansion of the Gracemere cemetery amenities.
Submissions can be returned via the internet or reply paid envelope and must be received by Friday 4 September 2015.
If you would prefer an individual meeting, please contact Council on 4932 9000 to make the arrangements.
