Don’t miss the opportunity to earn while you learn with Rockhampton Regional Council’s Apprentices and Trainees Intake for 2025 now open.

Council CEO Evan Pardon said the Apprentice and Trainee Intake provides school leavers and individuals with an exciting opportunity to gain practical qualifications while earning at the same time.

Mr Pardon said Council was looking to partner with the upcoming generation to help kick-start their careers, along with working with individuals who meet the eligibility criteria.

“These positions provide an excellent pathway for individuals seeking hands-on experience, mentorship, and professional development within the local government sector.

Rockhampton Regional Council’s Corporate and Technology Services Manager Megan Younger got her start in Council by applying for a business administration traineeship.

“It was Council’s great reputation as a large employer within the Region and the range of career opportunities that got me interested in applying for a trainee position,” Ms Younger said.

“That trainee position led me to pursuing a career in Procurement and later advancing to the Manager Corporate & Technology Services.

“I’ve learnt to take opportunities as they come to you even if its outside your comfort zone, as you never know where they may take you.

“I love the diversity of services, career opportunities and working at the level of government closest to the community where we can see the results of the services that we provide to our community.”

After celebrating 20 years at Council this year, Ms Younger encouraged anyone interested in finding a rewarding career to pursue a position through the Apprentice and Trainee Intake for 2025.

“Applying for an apprenticeship or traineeship in Council is very rewarding, as you are exposed to the wide range of services that Council provides to the community,” she said.

“It can also open doors to many different career paths where you may find your passion in an area that you hadn’t previously considered.”

Applications for the Apprentices and Trainees intake are open from 2 August to 2 September 2024.

An information session for the 2025 intake is on Tuesday 6 August at the Jim Webber Room at City Hall from 4pm-6pm.
