Council is encouraging neighbours to band together for Marcia Day on Saturday 20 February 2016 with a local neighbourhood party.

“We are hoping that our communities will regroup and gather together to remember and embrace our recovery and progress since Cyclone Marcia at a series of locally organised neighbourhood parties across our Region,” Mayor Strelow said.

“We’re looking for neighbourhood champions who will call that first meeting and get the process started, with Council on-hand to help with information kits and a Party Kit towards their event.

“The first step is to get your neighbours together!”

Council will support events that incorporate at least six different properties from the same community.

Check out the Neighbourhood Party Information Kit  where you’ll find background information on hosting a neighbourhood party, invitations, meeting plans and details on how to register so you can access the Party Kit.

The Neighbourhood Party Kit includes:

  • Tips on hosting a neighbourhood party
  • Procedure for street closures
  • Sample invitations, meeting plans and Ice Breaker ideas
  • Application form to be eligible for the Party Kit which will include balloons, streamers and banners
