The excitement is building as the highly anticipated Rockhampton Agricultural Show kicks off tomorrow, Wednesday, June 12, at the Rockhampton Showgrounds, running until Friday, June 14. With a jam-packed schedule of thrilling events and activities, this year's Rocky Show promises to be an unforgettable and affordable experience for the whole family.

Show Committee Member Councillor Grant Mathers is thrilled to officially open the Show this Wednesday.

"The Rocky Show is one of our community's most cherished events and this year, we've pulled out all the stops to ensure there's something for everyone. From the youngest children to the young at heart, we invite everyone to join us for three days of nonstop entertainment and agricultural education through a range of workshops and stage shows," Councillor Mathers said.

"The Outback Thunda monster truck show on Wednesday and Thursday nights is a must-see event and is included with your Show entry. Plus, Eljay's Freestyle Stunt Shows and the high-adrenaline KW Trick Riding will perform in the Centre Ring all three days. There's truly something for everyone at this year's Rocky Show!

Advance Rockhampton Tourism and Events Manager Mr Zac Garven said this week’s event aims to be an affordable outing for all.

"We want to make sure that everyone can enjoy the Show without breaking the bank. Entry to the Rocky Show is incredibly affordable, with tickets priced at just $10 for adults, $5 for children over five years and concession holders, and a family pass available for $25,” Mr Garven said.

"We're also excited to announce a fantastic list of 50 FREE Things to See and Do with your Show entry! From enjoying an Elvis tribute show on stage to making beaded bracelets with the kids, there's a wide variety of free activities to enjoy once you're at the Show.”

“Make sure you see everything at the Rockhampton Agricultural Show by downloading the free app Rockhampton Events to check out the full program, add events to your personalised timetable, and plan your days at the Show!

Showmen’s Guild of Australasia Vice President Gary Johnson said while the recent tragedy was weighing heavily on the hearts of those involved the event, it was extremely important for the Guild to continue to deliver the Show for the community.

“The Show is a place that brings much joy and excitement to the community, so everyone has been working closely together, albeit with a heavy heart, to honour this tradition,” Mr Johnson said.

“The Guild is ready to bring back the community's beloved rides, sideshow alley and the traditional carnival food to the community as well as the addition of four brand new rides that have never been seen at the Rocky Show before.

Further information:

It’s important to acknowledge for the community that last week’s accident did not occur within the public access areas of the Showgrounds and therefore the program and layout of the Show itself remains as originally planned.
