Showtime continues in the region with the 2024 Mount Morgan Show to be held this weekend on Saturday 10 August.
The Mount Morgan Showgrounds will come alive with open Pavilions displaying Arts and Craft, Photography, Poultry and Caged Birds and a full day of entertainment and events from 8am to 8pm.
Rockhampton Regional Council Mayor Tony Williams said the Mount Morgan Show is a cherished community event which Council is proud to support.
“The Mount Morgan Show is a very special event for residents right across our region,” Mayor Williams said.
“Our regional shows are a great example of how our community comes together to celebrate our local area, promote local groups and businesses and most of all – have fun.
“Council is proud to contribute $10,000 towards the event and work with the Show Committee to ensure the event is a great experience for all.”
Mount Morgan Agricultural Show Society President Heather Barker said there is plenty of free entertainment and activities at this year’s event.
“It’s always a great community show, and this year we’ve really tried hard to keep it affordable and enjoyable for all,” Mrs Barker said.
“There is face painting, balloon twisting, a petting zoo and other activities for children.
“There is something entertaining for everyone, from pig and duck races to ringside events and a Miner’s Challenge in the afternoon.”
Mrs Barker is part of a small, dedicated team who volunteer their time to organise the event so the community has something to enjoy.
“The show is such an important community event, bringing everyone together,” Mrs Baker said.
“We expect 1500 to 1800 people through gates with families coming in the morning and staying late to enjoy the full day of show excitement, including fireworks at 7pm.”
Entry to the Mount Morgan Show is $10 for adults, $7 for pensioners and students aged five to 17 years, and $30 for families of two adults and two children.
Council supports the Mount Morgan Show through its Community Assistance Program (CAP) which provides non-profit community based organisations with funding for grants and sponsorships towards projects and events that enhance the region’s well-being.
Council offers assistance to eligible organisations through six categories. Each program has its own set of requirements and processes, as well as time frames for funded projects and events.
