Get prepped with P-CEP
Published on 10 February 2022
Are you a person with disability or a carer? Take some time this February to make sure you’re prepped for a disaster with the Person-Centred Emergency Preparedness (P-CEP) toolkit.
Deputy Chair of the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) Councillor Drew Wickerson said Council is distributing key resources to service providers this month.
“Over the past decade, the Rockhampton Region has seen a natural hazard occur almost every year,” Cr Wickerson said.
“Disasters are a fact of life here in Central Queensland, and it’s critical that everyone in our community has access to all of the information and resources they need to ensure the safety of themselves and their loved ones.
“The P-CEP toolkit has been developed by researchers at the University of Sydney and co-designed with people with disability as a dedicated planning resource.
“The toolkit is designed to help people identify what their needs are in an emergency and make a plan with their support network to ensure they’re not caught out.
“This month, Council is distributing P-CEP workbooks along with a number of other resources to service providers across the region. Digital resources are also available on Council’s website.
“So, have a chat with your service provider or head over to our website, and spend some time this February making sure your plan covers everything you need.
“Queenslanders with Disability Network (QDN) are also able to facilitate P-CEP discussions through their peer support groups, and you can get in touch with them to find out more.”

For additional assistance with your emergency preparedness planning, the Queenslanders with Disability Network (QDN) is able to facilitate P-CEP discussion through their peer support groups.
