Grants help community groups

Cultural, sporting and civic groups have received more than $38,000 worth of funding from Rockhampton Regional Council’s first round of the 2015/16 Community Assistance Program.
Rockhampton Regional Council’s Communities Committee Chair Councillor Rose Swadling said it was wonderful to see a range of groups applying to fund their community activities.
“Three times a year we encourage not-for-profit groups to apply for the Community Assistance Program to help fund their projects and events taking place across our Region,” Cr Swadling said.
“This round more than $38,000 has been allocated for sporting and community expos, open days and cultural celebrations as well as projects helping with club facilities.
“These groups really need a helping-hand with their events so our community can experience and enjoy different things, but even funding of facility upgrades can have flow-on benefits for our community in the long run.”
The Community Assistance Program enhances the region’s capacity, well-being and long term sustainability by giving our local organisations financial assistance to deliver projects that contribute to those aims.
