Heritage Village to reopen Monday 5 July!

Rockhampton Regional Council has announced that the Heritage Village will reopen on Monday 5 July.

The Village was closed in March 2020 in response to the COVID 19 pandemic. During the closure, Council took the opportunity to do some behind the scenes work and consult with key stakeholders about the Village’s future.

Rockhampton Regional Council Communities Portfolio spokesperson Cr Drew Wickerson said that lately staff have been fielding a lot of calls from locals and tourists asking when the village would be reopening.

“I am excited to say that the Rockhampton Heritage Village will reopen its gates on Monday 5  July,” Cr Wickerson said.

“The staff and volunteers are ready to welcome back locals and tourists with open arms. Since the village closed back in March 2020, we’ve made a few changes -- some you’ll see, some you won’t -- but all of them will lead to a better visitor experience for locals and tourists.

“Of course this is just the start. Council is committed to the ongoing success of the Rockhampton Heritage Village,” he said.

Cr Wickerson said that one change he felt would be very popular was the reduction of the entrance fee.

“Council has reduced the entry fee to a flat $5 per person (over the age of three years) which we hope will make it easier for people to come and visit more often and perhaps introduce their out of town friends to the Village,” he said.

Rockhampton Heritage Village is owned and operated by Rockhampton Regional Council. It is situated at 296 Boundary Road Parkhurst, just north of the Yeppoon turnoff. Opening hours are 10am to 4pm, Monday to Sunday. Closed most public holidays.
