Hot Entrepreneurs to share start-up success stories with locals

Published on 07 August 2017

Local start-ups, entrepreneurs and businesses will have the opportunity to get inspired about turning ideas into reality when three highly successful entrepreneurs share their success stories at an open Q&A session in Rockhampton this month.

Dubbed as ‘Hot Entrepreneurs’, Tye Adams (Trumball Unmanned), Vince Loremia (Kallfly) and Matt Tomlins (CoverCard) have each participated in the State’s Hot DesQ program that attracts entrepreneurs from interstate and overseas to boost Queensland’s start-up ecosystem.

Rockhampton Regional Council’s Manager of Corporate and Technology Services, Drew Stevenson, said the interactive ‘Lunch and Learn’ session is a chance for anyone pursuing success to gain insight and tips from the ‘Hot Entrepreneurs’.

“For anyone that has an idea and wants to take it to the next level or an existing business and wants to try something new, this is a great opportunity to hear first-hand from three highly intelligent entrepreneurs who have been on an incredible journey to success,” Mr Stevenson said.

“The Q&A session will give people the chance to ask the entrepreneurs valuable questions that could inspire someone’s journey or even make it life changing.”

In recognition of Council’s efforts to embrace the start-up culture through the Smart Hub, Rockhampton was recently announced as one of the State’s preferred Hot DesQ locations to host international or interstate entrepreneurs.

Mr Stevenson said having ‘Hot Entrepreneurs’ like Tye, Vince and Matt work out of the Smart Hub in the near future will be a huge advantage for our local start-up community.

“Hot DesQ is all about having world-class entrepreneurs on hand to help start-ups make the right moves by sharing their knowledge, connections and experience in a collaborative environment,” Mr Stevenson said.

“Entrepreneurs have different strengths, a different way of thinking and when working together they can challenge each other and spark new ideas.”

Queensland’s Chief Entrepreneur Mark Sowerby will also attend the Lunch and Learn event that will be facilitated by Council’s Smart Hub Manager Elize Hattin.

Questions for the Hot Entrepreneurs are welcome to be sent prior to the event at smarthub@rrc.qld.gov.au.
