I’m not messy, I’m an artist

‘I’m not messy, I’m an artist’ is the theme for children right throughout Rockhampton River Festival, 14 – 16 July 2017.

Visitors are invited to celebrate, congregate, consume and create at the newly vitalised riverfront, and making sure that the children are occupied right throughout the festival has been at the forefront of organisers’ minds.

Rockhampton River Festival Coordinator Bev Marston said that the tag line ‘create’ was the most important element.

“We all know festivals are built around music, art, stalls and food but really what we hope to achieve as event coordinators is the ability for people to create memories,” Mrs Marston said.

“The 2017 Rockhampton River Festival has been designed so that children and parents can create memories together through a robust program of events.”

Rockhampton Art Gallery Director Bianca Acimovic knows which event is the must do activity for children and parents at the Rockhampton River Festival.

“There are so many different activities for children to do throughout the festival, but the art program team has put together ‘Create you Future in Light’,” Mrs Acimovic said.

“Children are invited to light up their dreams for the future in our interactive play space and experience a glowing world where objects, clothes and furniture light up.

“To ensure everyone has a memory to take home from this great activity, there are white t-shirts available to purchase at the site. Fitting with the theme, these read ‘I’m not messy I’m an artist”, and the whole experience is about creating with our hands, mind and body.”
