Works have commenced to improve River Road in Mount Morgan and provide residents on the street with sealed bitumen access to their properties.

Councillor Williams, Chair of the Infrastructure Committee, has said the works will be welcomed by the community.

“River Road has become quite busy in recent years,” said Cr Williams, “There are now fourteen houses on this street, and I’m sure the families that live here will really appreciate this road being sealed.”

Councillor Rutherford, local divisional councillor, has said works like this are a great example of Council’s commitment to progressively upgrading Mount Morgan’s infrastructure.

“The dirt road was an inconvenience to the people who live on this street. A lot of their houses sit very close to the road, and the dust can really pick up,” said Cr Rutherford.

“We would also like to thank the residents on River Road for their patience while these road works take place.”

Works on River Road commenced on Monday, February 18 and are expected to take six weeks. The road is currently closed except to local traffic, and there are personnel onsite to assist local traffic through the roadworks. There are no detours.

Updates on the project will be posted to the Works in my Area section of the Council website, and members of the community can contact Customer Service on 1300 22 55 77 with any questions or concerns.
