Is your dog registered and microchipped? Now is the time to do it!

Published on 30 September 2015

From Thursday 1 October 2015 Rockhampton Regional Council Local Law Officers will be out in force checking properties in the Gracemere and Stanwell area for dog registration, microchipping and keeping of animal requirements compliance.

The systematic inspection program, targets dog owners who have not registered or microchipped their dog or do not meet the keeping of animals requirements and is part of an ongoing campaign to ensure dog owners do the right thing. Infringements may be issued if requirements are not met.

On the spot fines of $235 for unregistered dogs will be issued with owners given two weeks to complete their dog registration. Further fines will apply if the dog is not registered within the two weeks.

Dog registration is compulsory for Rockhampton Region residents.

Registration, with up-to-date information, is important as Council officers can easily reunite a lost dog with its owner, ensuring wandering animals are kept off the street and the community remains safe.

Inspections will take place daily between 7am – 6pm from 1 October 2015 through to 13 February 2016.

To register your dog or report a lost or wandering dog, please contact Council on 1300 22 55 77 or visit our Customer Service Centre.
