Kershaw Gardens redevelopment update
Published on 11 August 2017
Redevelopment works at Kershaw Gardens are on track with construction over the next two weeks including the installation of underground infrastructure to service the redevelopment.
Chair of the Parks Committee Councillor Cherie Rutherford said the civil works, which begun in June, were necessary before the above ground elements could begin.
“TC Marcia saw up to 70 per cent of trees lost in some areas and exposed areas of the old landfill along with structural damage to buildings and park furniture,” Cr Rutherford said.
“These works may not be the prettiest but they are necessary for the redevelopment to occur and we thank the community for their patience during this time.
“This is going to be an absolutely incredible space for our community once it’s finished and I know all of our residents will be keen to see this area back and better than ever,” Cr Rutherford said.
The Kershaw Gardens carpark and access road at the intersection of the Bruce Highway and Knight St will be closed to public access starting Monday to allow for the next stage of earthworks.
Alternate access is via High Street in the designated parking area and access to the dog agility course remains open via Charles St.
