Last chance to secure your place for Small Business course

Rockhampton Regional Council’s Small Business Management Course has been receiving rave reviews from local businesses, as Mayor Margaret Strelow warns there are just a few places left.
Over 60 local businesses have taken part in the last year, with results including increased revenue and modernised business practices.
Kindysport Director Wayne Hanrahan completed the course a few months ago.
“I learnt a great deal about the strategy and process of running a business and have already implemented recommendations that have resulted in a significant increase in revenue.”
Mayor Margaret Strelow said she was delighted with the results seen so far, and warned local businesses that there were only a few subsidised places remaining.
“This is a fantastic initiative of Council’s Advance Rockhampton team, helping local businesses upskill their staff so they are ready and able to tap into new business opportunities as they emerge.
“It is yet another way in which we are offering tangible training outcomes that only add value to our local workforce and business sector.
“If your business meets certain criteria the course could even be fully subsidised.”
The Certificate IV in Small Business Management has been exclusively developed for small business owners and covers areas including time management, business planning, customer service, marketing, digital action plans, compliance and small business finance.
The course has a fee of $2,390 and if the participant meets certain criteria the State Government covers $1,935 of this cost. Council will provide its own subsidy of $455 that could either cover the remaining costs or assist those that do not meet the State Government criteria until the end of the financial year.
Council subsidies will be provided for those working in local businesses across the Rockhampton Region or local residents that participate and complete the course.
