Learn how to do business with Council
Published on 28 September 2018
Local suppliers are being urged to take advantage of a forum next week which will help them do business with Rockhampton Regional Council.
The sessions are free to attend, and will cover upcoming tender opportunities, how to navigate the tender document, and how Council makes its decisions. There will also be Council staff on hand to provide hints to suppliers about how to improve their submissions.
Chair of the Planning and Regulatory Committee, Councillor Ellen Smith, said Council wanted to spend ratepayers’ money with local suppliers wherever possible.
“We obviously need to ensure value for ratepayers’ money, but we are absolutely committed to supporting local businesses and to nurturing and growing our Region’s economy.
“Our Local Preference Policy has a 12% buy local rating, which last year saw us spending over $70m in our region.
“I would urge any local businesses and suppliers to register for a place, come along, and learn how to put themselves in the best possible position to secure these contracts.”
Date: Thursday 4 October
Time: Session 1 | 7am – 8am & Session 2 | 4pm – 5pm
Location: Walter Reid Cultural Centre - Cnr. Derby and East Streets, Rockhampton
