Live Rockhampton, Work Adani

Building on the success of this week’s Adani jobs announcement and the Gear Up Rocky initiative, Rockhampton Regional Council will next week deliver two business forums ‘Live Rockhampton, Work Adani’.

Mayor Margaret Strelow said the forums would be hosted by Council’s Economic Development Arm, Advance Rockhampton, so the business community can hear how to benefit from the jobs windfall.

“With more than 1,700 new jobs to be created in construction and ongoing operational roles on the Carmichael Mine project, our businesses are in the box seat to secure work,” Mayor Strelow said.

“We’ve been delivering real skills for real jobs through our Gear Up rocky initiative, we’ve provided the training our businesses needed to access the jobs portal online and make themselves more visible – it’s up to them now to seize this opportunity.

“Our dearest wish is that those who have stood by us in the hard times will be the ones who benefit in the good. So if you’re a business looking to secure work from this project, get in contact with council, come to the forums and make the most of this window of opportunity,” Mayor Strelow said.

The forums are targeted at local businesses across a range of sectors including;

  • Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services
  • Accommodation
  • Construction
  • Education and training
  • Mining
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services

Two forums will be held on Wednesday 11th October at the Walter Reid Auditorium – one at 11am and one at 5pm. To register click here or contact council on 4932 9000.
