Local authors to shine at Expo
Published on 17 November 2015
From horror to historical fiction and from steampunk to teen angst – there’s bound to be something captivating, thought-provoking, or clever and comical at the Rockhampton Regional Council Local Author Expo on Wednesday 25 November.
The Local Author Expo provides an opportunity to meet with the Region’s local writers, poets, songwriters and editors and is an ideal afternoon for anyone who loves reading or books.
Council’s Communities Committee Chair Councillor Rose Swadling said the Expo will showcase 20 local authors, their books and their personal journeys.
“This is our second Local Author Expo for the year and we’re delighted that even more writers, novelists and poets are sharing their creative talents and passions with the broader community this time around,” Cr Swadling said.
“You don’t have to be an avid reader as everyone is certain to come away inspired and energised with so many authors on hand to chat about their works and their writing experiences. The expo also provides a perfect opportunity to buy a signed book as a special gift.”
Writers will showcase their works from different genres including children’s literature, non-fiction, steampunk, teen fiction, history, horror, short stories, fantasy fiction and poetry.
Local authors Belinda O’Brien, Pat Thompson and Verena Strathearn will also launch their new works.
