Mayor Strelow: Let the people come

The Boundary Review Commissioner is advertising, maps are being drawn and time is running out.

Rockhampton Region Mayor Margaret Strelow believes the Community Cabinet to be held in Rockhampton next week is the last opportunity for Glenlee, Glendale and Rockyview residents to return to Rockhampton Regional Council at the 2016 election.

Mayor Strelow says Livingstone Shire had begun the journey and asked residents what they wanted, but that's as far as it went.

“Discussions since then have made it obvious that Livingstone Shire Council has not progressed the matter any further,” Mayor Strelow said.

“I've invited Livingstone Shire to join with Rockhampton Regional Council in a joint submission to Community Cabinet requesting the Boundary realignment for the 2016 election.

“Time is running out, any boundary alignment must be decided in the next month - it needs people power from the residents while the Premier is here.”

The Community Cabinet will be held at the North Rockhampton State High School on Sunday 24 May 2015.
