Mayor thanks community for patience with ongoing parks clean-up

Thanks for your patience - that's the message from Rockhampton Region Mayor Margaret Strelow as Council’s Parks teams work through the backlog of mowing and tidying up around the Region.

“Their efforts were directed at the clean-up effort for the first few weeks after Marcia and the Parks crews, plus all Council workers, have done an outstanding job, but it may take them a few weeks to catch up on their programmed mowing schedule.” Mayor Strelow said.

“It's hard to believe that only five weeks ago the place really looked like a cyclone had gone through it!” She said.

Mayor Strelow has also flagged a community clean-up day to be held on Saturday 18 April.

“We missed Clean-up Australia Day this year so we will invite the community to have all hands on deck as we host our very own 'clean-up' day.

“We are really keen to have the City and our towns looking their best for Anzac Day and Beef Week which falls shortly after.

“A little bit of extra TLC will do wonders,” she said.

In the meantime, if residents see any remaining debris on the footpaths or notice damaged infrastructure such as blocked drains or damaged roads, please call Customer Service on 1300 22 55 77 or use the free Snap, Send, Solve app on your smart phone.

Residents are reminded that both greenwaste and bulk waste collections have ceased. Disposal of greenwaste is free at Council’s Waste Management Facilities all year round.
