Minor works on Wyatt’s Wonder Web

Wyatt’s Wonder Web, Kershaw Garden’s world-class super sphere play structure, will be closed this week for some minor construction work.
Rockhampton Region Mayor Margaret Strelow said that Kompan, the contractor that installed the sphere, has asked to replace some net panels on levels 4 and 5 and is doing the work at no cost to Council.
“There are absolutely no safety concerns or issues with the current net panels,” said Mayor Strelow.
“However, the company was not completely happy with the appearance of the initial netting, and has asked to replace it.
“We are lucky to work with some great companies who take real pride in their work and want to deliver the best product possible for Rockhampton residents, and Kompan is clearly no exception.
Justin Hutchinson, Operations Manager at Kompan, said that these cosmetic changes will elevate the already impressive appearance of Wyatt’s Wonder Web.
“This super sphere was the first of its kind in the world,” said Mr Hutchinson.
“We are incredibly proud of the project, however the appearance of the netting on levels 4 and 5 was one element were never completely satisfied with.
“Since completing Wyatt’s Wonder Web we have worked on some similar projects, and have finessed our design to something we’re a lot happier with.
“The work we’re doing this week is to apply our new design for this section of netting, and to ensure that Wyatt’s Wonder Web remains a truly world-class super sphere.”
Wyatt’s Wonder Web is closed from today, Monday 3 June, and is scheduled to reopen this weekend.
