The new financial year equals new training opportunities, so now is the time to sign up for Rockhampton Regional Council’s free or low-cost computer training courses.
Council’s Communities Committee Chair Councillor Rose Swadling said the Library Technology Centre catered for a wide cross-section of the community by offering a range of computer courses.
“Our Library Technology Centre hosts more than 10 free computer courses and workshops, as well cost-effective professional training courses for individuals and organisations,” Cr Swadling said.
“Community members can learn the very basics of navigating the internet or emailing to uploading digital photos.
“We also have some great community workshops to help people with their technical problems and each month run a fun trivia afternoon where everyone can google the answers!”
Cr Swadling said it was the professional training courses that were gaining popularity and bringing considerable benefits to individuals and organisations.
“Our professional training courses of Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Project are really hitting the mark with individuals and businesses,” she said.
“The short one and two-day introductory, intermediate and advanced courses can really improve a participant’s computer knowledge, expand their skills and ultimately enhance their career opportunities.
“We’re definitely filling a gap in the market with our professional training courses as there’s limited opportunities for these short courses across our Region.”
