It’s almost time for Rockhampton’s much loved Christmas event, Carols by Candlelight.

This year’s concerts are sure to be full of Christmas fun. Not only will there be performances by some of the region’s best singers, dancers and musicians, but also an appearance by Santa and a few of his mischievous Christmas elves.

Rockhampton Regional Council’s Communities, Culture and Heritage spokesperson Cr Drew Wickerson said that Carols by Candlelight has been a Christmas favourite of the pubic for many decades.

“Carols by Candlelight is one of the region’s favourite pre-Christmas events. It’s a time when people can gather together with family and friends, relax a little after a busy year, and get into the Christmas Spirit.

“I always look forward to Carols by Candlelight because it is a great opportunity to see our own talented local artists shine on the stage. However, while the performers might be the stars of the show, there will be plenty of opportunity for audiences to sing along.

“This year both Carols by Candlelight concerts are being held at the Pilbeam Theatre, so I urge people to get in early and book their tickets.

“Rockhampton Regional Council is very proud to produce this event for the community,” he said.

Carols by Candlelight Creative Director Amanda Hock said that she was focusing on fun, families and talent of all ages.

“I am so excited about this show,” Amanda said.

“We have some very well-known local performers on stage. Jacob Goves, Emma McGuire, Grant Wolf-King Whitfield and Innocent Eve’s Rachel Olsson Smith, just to name a few,” she said.

“We will also be highlighting some of our region’s young rising stars, along with dancers, elves, songs and shenanigans,” she said.

“It’s great evening of Christmas fun, so get your tickets now so you don’t miss out,” she said.

Capricornia Winds, under Musical Director John Evenhuis, will provide the music for the concerts. Rockhampton Musical Union Choir is the backing choir and will also perform a featured piece, the popular hymn Angels We Have Heard on High.

Proceeds from ticket sales and donations will go to local charity Walk’n’Talk Collective. Funds raised will help establish a community hub for mental health support, particularly for adult and adolescent males.

Carols by Candlelight will be held at the Pilbeam Theatre on Friday 13 December and Saturday 14 December starting at 6.30pm. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for children and concessions.

Tickets are on sale now from the Pilbeam Theatre Box Office, Phone 4927 4111 and www.seeitlive.com.au
