Sneak a peek at the new Waste Transfer Station

Published on 02 October 2015

Rockhampton’s Waste Transfer Station is set to commence operation in the upcoming weeks and Rockhampton Regional Waste and Recycling is offering a sneak peak of the site before it does.

The doors will be open on Saturday, October 24 for a community Open Day.

Chair of Council’s Business Enterprise Committee, Cr Neil Fisher said it’s an opportunity to see firsthand what’s involved in the new facility and how it operates.

“There’s so much more involved in these kinds of facilities than simply waste collection or distribution,” Cr Fisher said.

“This site is something worth celebrating. It’s going to improve waste disposal for our community by providing a safer and controlled waste disposal point.

“We’re really keen to invite the community to see how it all works as well as learn about the other parts of the waste facility and the benefits they bring.”
