Rockhampton Regional Council has granted more than $40,000 to local community groups and clubs through the latest round of the Community Assistance Program.

Chair of Council’s Communities Committee, Councillor Rose Swadling, said it was great to see such a range of organisations applying for funding.

“The Community Assistance Program is all about supporting local not-for-profit organisations carry out projects that benefit the entire community,” Cr Swadling said.

“From rural fire brigades to baton twirling, it is wonderful to be able to support such an incredibly diverse range of groups.

“We have also supported two events through major sponsorship, the Black Dog Ball and RACQ’s River Glow.

“I am delighted that we have been able to give over $40,000 in the first round of this year’s program. The next round opens in just a couple of weeks so I am looking forward to seeing what other excellent projects we can support.”

The second round of the 2018-19 Community Assistance Program will open on 10 September, 2018.
